Your terminal stays yours.

SSH traffic—including host addresses, commands, terminal input, and server output—travels directly between your device and the server you select. 8BitsForge does not operate an SSH relay and does not receive normal terminal traffic.

The operator of the remote server can process and retain activity according to that server’s configuration and policies.

Saved hosts, connection settings, trusted host keys, and related preferences are stored by the app. Passwords, private keys, and other sensitive credentials use Apple Keychain.

Captured output, reusable shortcuts, snippets, and Command Recall history are stored for your use on the device or through the optional synchronization controls you enable. They are not sent to 8BitsForge.

Terminal content can include sensitive remote information. Review captures and command history before copying, exporting, or sharing them.

Copy and paste use the system clipboard when you request them. A trusted remote program can also request a clipboard write through OSC 52 when that terminal capability is enabled. Treat remote systems permitted to write the clipboard as trusted.

When enabled, supported app settings and profile information can synchronize through your private iCloud account, and supported secrets can use iCloud Keychain. Disabling sync stops future synchronization from that device but may not remove information already held by Apple.

Diagnostics remain local unless you deliberately copy or share them. When you email support, 8BitsForge receives your email address and the information you include.

Never send passwords, private keys, complete host details, captured terminal secrets, or unreviewed diagnostics.

8BitsTerm contains no advertising or tracking SDKs and does not track your activity across other companies’ apps or websites. 8BitsForge does not sell terminal or profile information.
